Istria is the largest peninsula on the Adriatic coast, at the northern end of the Adriatic sea. It has a relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle, wonderful food, good wine, magnificent scenery, peaceful villages and bustling resort towns. The region is very similar to Tuscany with its undulating countryside, Venetian architecture and history. There is spectacular scenery and a beautiful coastline backed by wooded areas inland.

The climate is mild with the sea temperature reaching 27° in summer and an average summer air temperature of 28°. It is one of the sunniest coasts in Europe.

The 537 km coastline is indented with natural, unspoiled scenery and a wealth of wildlife which the Croatian government is dedicated to protecting. Istria's interior has rolling hills, nature reserves and forest parks, and the offshore Brijuni Islands are a national park.

Istria's largest town is Pula, with a 3000 year history and an imposing Roman amphitheatre. There are picturesque stone towns and many old fortified habitations on hills, one of which is Hum (population 23), the smallest town in the world. Hum has maintained all the features of mediaeval urban architecture and organization.

Istria is a land to be experienced, savoured and enjoyed and, for the financially astute, invested in.
